faq-
1) Why has the bathroom become so important?
The bathroom environment has evolved and transformed in the last years, with a radical change in its nature.
Today it is a place integrated with the rest of the house, subject to greater attention from consumers. It is furnished to be functionally comfortable and aesthetically pleasant.
A place with “open doors” where to live and feel at ease.

In this context the shower space –  the newest one in a bathroom – plays a fundamental role and has to convey a feeling of comfort.

Anyway, a shower space has to satisfy exact requirements that can be functional (water control, water-tightness, safety), aesthetical (design, innovation, integrability), of planning flexibility (a solution that can be adapted to any kind of space and pre-existing shower tray or a complete structure for new installation), technical (product range, modularity, extensibility, ease of installation), durability and reliability as it is a good of investment.

2) Is it better to have a shower enclosure or a bath tub?
They are two different solutions aimed at satisfying different needs.
A shower is quicker and more hygienic: for this reason its usage is more and more widespread and the product range has got extremely wide.
There are many advantages in using a shower as alternative to a bath tub:
  • it is simpler and more comfortable to use
  • it is less cumbersome
  • it is less expensive: the water amount is 4 to 5 times less than the amount used in a bath. It takes 120 to 150 litres to fill a bath tub while 30 to 40 litres are enough to take a shower. All that has an impact on energy consumption too.
3) Based upon what is a shower enclosure to be chosen?
This choice has to be made on subjective criteria, nevertheless it is important consider:
  • the experience and prestige of the manufacturer
  • the aesthetical content
  • the quality of the materials, the processing and technical systems used in the production.
  • the adaptability to every kind of shower tray
  • the ease of installation
  • the after sale service to the customer offered by the manufacturer.
4) Can the collocation of a shower enclosure set problems?
There are no particular problems to the creation of a shower space.
It depends on the available room and on the structure of the shower enclosure: we can have 3-side, corner and niche enclosures. All on them with different types of doors, such as sliding, folding, saloon doors.
5) Is it advisable to hear an architect’s opinion?
Your architect will confirm that nowadays the trend goes towards a higher importance of the aesthetical features. It proposes products which have less frame and more glass, where the glass clearness underlines the innovative design of hinges and profiles. Anyway it is important to remember that water-tightness improves when a shower enclosure is framed.
Within the Cesana product range you can choose between completely framed and frameless shower enclosures, all of which can satisfy the need for “aesthetic cleanness of the shape” required by the architects.
6) What can I do if the available room is not regular?
There is no need to worry.
Cesana offers such a wide range of solutions - in terms of size, shape, colour, finishing – that every customer is able to choose the enclosure that best matches his lifestyle and fits the furniture in his bathroom.
Cesana always has a “tailor made” solution for the customer, because it is the manufacturer that can reconcile the different requirements that a shower space has to comply with.
7) Why Cesana?
The glass shower enclosures have technical and functional features that allow them to be placed even in peculiar spaces, they also use technical systems that satisfy the primal function of being a barrier to water (extensibility of the profiles for adjustments, special profiles for difficult and irregular situations) in the best way.
Please consider that Cesana products comply with the new European UNI EN 1442 norm, the first one that defines the requirements for shower panels.
Cesana boasts experience and prestige that are guarantee for reliability, safety and duration.
8) Why glass and not plastic?
Glass shower enclosures are highly recommended because their panels are made of thermal tempered safety glass, which is an important element of safety and solidity depending on its thickness (4 to 8 mms). It is better than any plastic materials.
9) Glass can break, does it then get dangerous?
In spite of what one may think, glass is an important element of safety and solidity.
You have to remember that Cesana shower enclosures are made with first quality materials (glass and metals) which are processed with extreme care and attention.
In particular, Cesana uses exclusively tempered safety glass, in thickness of 4, 6 and 8 mms. In compliance with UNI EN 12150-1 norms it is very resistant to impacts, flexion and breaking.
10) What is tempered glass?
Thermally tempered safety glass is glass that underwent a specific thermal process that increases its mechanical resistance. Moreover, when it does break, safety glass shatters into very small pieces that do not cut and are not dangerous.
This exemplifies  Cesana’s commitment to a “culture of quality”, which starts with the design and covers every stage of production. In fact, the company’s production system has been certified ISO 9001/2000.
11) If a sliding door is installed in the bathroom, near the shower area, is it possible to fix the shower enclosure onto that wall without problems?
Yes, provided that the total depth of tile and plaster is at least 2 cms.
In this way the profile of the cabin can be fixed to the wall with nogs or shorter screws. Water-tightness is guaranteed as the contact surface between profile and wall will be sealed with silicone.
12)

Does silicone set problems of cleaning?
Please consider that the amount of silicone used for installation is minimal and it is restricted to surfaces that barely come in touch with water, thus reducing the possibility of yellowing.
For cleaning you can use the general cleaning products available on the market, as long as they are not abrasive.
The same products can be used for cleaning plastic gaskets and the whole enclosure, as any other item in the bathroom.

13) And then there is the problem of limescale: will the glasses become opaque in short?
The problem of cleaning has been overcome for three reasons:
  • there is no more overlapping of fixed and sliding panels
  • sliding doors can be removed for an easy cleaning.
  • anti-limescale treatment of the glass is available upon request
14) How can I make my choice?
First of all, Cesana provides an excellent technical assistance service which is able to advise you about the most appropriate product and install the cabin in your home.
All Cesana products are easy to install in a few and simple steps, thanks to clear fitting instructions that you appointed fitter can follow without any difficulties.
Anyway, it is the customer who chooses how to furnish his shower space, thus he should have an idea about how to proceed.
Knowing the dimensions of his shower tray is, of course, an element that can facilitate the choice.
15) Are there any particular precautions to take in order to install a shower enclosure?
For a perfect installation of the shower enclosure, we suggest you should take measures when the tray is already installed and tiled. You should also check that the tray is level and the walls are plumb.
Please note that if the tray is not line or the walls are not plumb, you can adjust your shower enclosure through shims and compensating profiles: the cabin must always be square.
For niche installation we always suggest you should measure niche width at three levels: at the top, in the middle and at the bottom.
16) And what about measures?
Taking measures of a shower tray in order to purchase the right shower enclosure is quite simple.
It is important to know brand and model of the tray, or better to have the technical card of the article. Anyway, with brand and model only we can look for it and contact the customer with a response.
17) Which measures are particularly important to be taken?
Essential measures vary upon the shape of the shower tray, whose edge must be at least 5 cms wide.
  • for a square or rectangular tray for corner (2 free sides) you should measure both sides from the tile to the external edge of the tray.
  • for a square or rectangular tray in niche (1 free side) you should measure:
    • from tile to tile just above the shower tray
    • from tile to tile at about 90 cm above the shower tray
    • from tile to tile at about 200 cm above the shower tray
  • for a square or rectangular tray on wall (3 free sides) you should measure:
    • both lateral sides from the tile to the external frontal edge of the tray
    • the frontal side if the tray, from edge to edge.
  • for a curved corner tray you should measure both wall sides, form tile to the external edge of the tray, on the straight part.
  • for a pentagonal corner tray you should measure both wall sides, form tile to the external edge of the tray, on the straight part.
18) If a shower enclosure is already in my bathroom, do I have to change everything, including tray, to place a new one?
No, you don’t need to. If you don’t want to install a complete new structure, there are adaptable solutions to every kind of space and tray.
With the existing tray you can choose the enclosure that best meets your furnishing requirements, no matter what shape (square, rectangular, round, pentagonal) or material (ceramic, acrylic, plastic, enamelled steel) are.
19) So the shower enclosure can be adapted to the existing tray?
Cesana offers two product lines that can be adapted to every kind of space and shower tray, whose difference just lies in a different mix of features. They have both an excellent balance of quality and product performance, relating to their price.
The Blue Line underlines the formal and technological content of innovation while the Red Line stresses the functional content.
Moreover, it is possible to enrich your shower space with a shower column equipped with a water jet, adjustable water nozzles and back massage sprays: the Logic Totem by Cesana.
20) If one wants to change everything, what does the market suggest?
If you’d like to have a completely new solution for your shower space, the market offers nowadays a wide range of solutions.
Particularly in this field, Cesana products set trends.
Since 1966 the company has devoted itself exclusively to the research of new values - both formal and functional - for the shower space. Therefore Cesana is considered a benchmark for the market and a forerunner to every evolution in the field of shower enclosures.
For new installations Cesana’s Green Line offers a collection of cabins and tubs where the remarkable content of design and innovation allows integrated solutions with the other objects of the bathroom. The Green Line is an actual collection of “unique pieces”.
21) If something doesn’t work after installation, what can I do?
Cesana’s after sales service is able to provide, if necessary, any spare parts of the shower enclosures, even after many years.
There are not many manufactures that can offer the same guarantee of functioning and duration, as well as the qualified after sale service as Cesana.
